About Us At Bridge Coach

Background

The initial work on Bridge Coach started in the provision of bridge classes for children in schools. There was a need to enable non-bridge playing school teachers to be able to present bridge classes. Thus, the Mini Bridge Power Point presentation was introduced to the classes in the Spring of 2005. This was closely followed by the development of the first Bridge Coach software, which interacted with the already-available Bridge Baron software to give a running commentary on a display screen on the meaning of the bids. Early testing of Bridge Baron in schools demonstrated its potential, but also showed that it was too cumbersome for use on an individual's personal computer.

Great Game Products was eventually approached and the first joint development was an integrated solution that linked the Bridge Coach bidding software with Bridge Baron to enable an individual to practice both the bidding of a hand and the play of the cards within a single program. Eventually, it was decided to introduce commentary on the play of the cards and this was achieved by using Bridge Baron Teacher as the interface.

It was at this point that we recognised that the format of teaching bridge that had been developed within the software could be utilised with any bidding/play system and it could be written in any language. This is when we decided to make the software commercially available and make plans for the future.

Our Plans for the Future

Our mission is to make Bridge Coach available to as many people as possible throughout the world.

Our objectives are to:

Provide top class bridge teaching programs that enable beginners to the game of bridge to improve their knowledge and understanding of the game.

Enable more experienced bridge players to improve their game by using the program for bridge practice.

To maintain the contemporary nature of Bridge Coach by adapting the content of the software in line with changes in national systems of bidding and play.

Work with any national bridge teaching organisation that would like to develop a version of Bridge Coach that is specific to the requirements of their country/region.
